- No, in my opinion, it`s unlikely, because they play differently. Perhaps their game looks about the same on TV. But Yannick hits faster than Novak. He doesn`t let you catch your breath. You can build plays with Novak. It cannot be said that it is easier to play with Novak, because he is the best in history. But at least with Novak you can start plays more often and not be afraid that he will suddenly score like a cannon along the line or with a cross.
I don`t like to compare players because everyone has their own style. I think it`s impossible to understand how fast Yannick plays until you watch him play live in the stadium. The TV cannot transmit the speed.
I trained with him on our site before the tournament. Then he kicked my ass too. In a sense, I knew what I would have to face. Sometimes it seems that tennis players play even better during training because they don`t feel pressure. But today [Saturday] he played great from start to finish.
I didn`t start very well, so I held back and overdid it a little. Even in the rallies that he played well, he defended well. In the end, I was stupidly wrong.
All in all, it wasn`t my day. But I won`t say that I would have won if it were my day. I hope I`ll play with Yannick more often because it`s a very interesting challenge, even though I lost big today.
