Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso explained what he tried to learn from seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher.
Alonso repeatedly called Schumacher his teacher throughout his career.
Michael never had bad days. Michael never performed below his level. That`s what impressed me most when I first got into Formula 1, and especially when we were fighting for the title.
Before that, no matter what category I competed in, sooner or later my opponents always had bad days, which you could take advantage of and earn much more points than your opponents. This simply did not happen to Michael. Most of the time he and Ferrari were simply unbeatable. But even on not the most successful days - when his car or tires were not working well, or they were not in the settings - Michael still finished second or third.
Even after a bad practice or qualifying on Sunday you still saw Michael on the podium. He was distinguished by this tenacity, the desire to use every opportunity - to minimize the damage on bad days and try to show the maximum on good ones. He had an outstanding attitude, " Alonso said.
